“The mission of the Ascension Providence Hospital Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine fellowship program is to cultivate outstanding physicians trained in pulmonary and critical care medicine who are fully prepared to pursue careers in either academic medicine or private practice. At the end of the three-year training period, fellows are eligible for dual certification in pulmonary and critical care medicine. We believe in compassionate and empathic care to nurture and heal mind, body and soul.”

Mission and Introduction
Three-year program, four fellows per year, dual certification after 18 months of clinical training.
Clinical Sites
Two hospital campuses, Southfield (395 beds) and Novi (259 beds), serving Oakland County and metropolitan Detroit.
Pulmonary Consultation Service
A busy, procedure-rich consult service with one half-day continuity office and faculty-supervised procedures.
Didactics
Core lecture series for incoming fellows, then twice-weekly faculty and fellow-driven sessions.
Extracorporeal Life Support (ECLS/ECMO)
Fellows respond first to the ECMO call and work hands-on under faculty supervision.
Pulmonary Hypertension Program
Longitudinal management of PH patients, from diagnostic evaluation to right ventricular failure.
Pulmonary Embolism Response Team
The ICU fellow coordinates the team when the PERT is triggered.
Fellows Bootcamp and Onboarding
Simulation-lab training in bronchoscopy, central lines, pleural catheters, lumbar puncture and ultrasound.
